The Lion's Castle is located in the picturesque mountain park Wilhelmshohe. From a distance it appears to the visitor as a romantic Gothic castle from the Middle Ages. However, it was built from 1793-1801. As a pseudo-medieval "family seat" of its founder the Lowenburg was not a fortress, but a pleasure palace. So, in their interior one can see princely living spaces, reflecting its rich furnishings with antique furniture, paintings, tapestries, glassware, bronzes, a superb collection of arms and medieval stained glass windows, reflecting the great passion for collecting by the builder.
